Our Greek Wedding trip

Postby Nige » Sat Nov 07, 2009 2:34 pm

Flew out Friday 30th with Easyjet, smooth check in and boarding and flight on time. Airport deserted so only took 5 mins for the luggage to arrive. 30 mins later in our little studio as guests of Dimitri and Katerina. Only 2 supermarkets and a couple of bars still open but as we were eating with our hosts every night no problem. Top cars dropped a little car off on Saturday morning, nice people and good service. Went up to Liapades and Paleo at lunch time, Liapades shut but still a few Tavernas open in Paleo. Drove up to Lakones, lovely views and the sun was shining! The Wedding on Sunday was fantastic, plenty of rice throwing in the little church which was crammed with 300 guests! Reception, well never seen so much food and drink! Had a bit of a lie in Monday morning  then headed down south for a toot. Tuesday went North to Acharavi, plenty of places open and still sunny! Was up early Wednesday for our Aegean flight to Athens, very good airline. Dropped our bags off at the left luggage and took the Metro into Athens. Its quick very clean and cheap, puts the London underground to shame. Had lunch in Monastiraki on Adrianou Street, loads of good Tavernas there. Had a look round the Plaka and saw the Guards at the Parliament building near Syntagma Square. Back to the airport to pick up our bags then check in with Easyjet, a breeze! The flight was FULL and everyone seemed to have booked speedy boarding but we got the extra legroom seats on row 12, left on time and arrived 5 mins early. If you ever get an invite to a Greek Wedding, go, you wont regret it!!
