Hi all I am new to the forum & am looking for information on where the best place to holiday in Corfu for 2 adults & an 11 year old child. Last year we stayed in Alykanas Zante in a traditional small hotel called the Valais which we enjoyed immensly. The hotel for those that aren't familar with it is located on the beach has a bar, swimming pool & restaurant which does great food. We would like a similar hotel & similar location in a small town or village in Corfu with plenty of good restaurants. Names of good hotels would all be very welcome. Thanks in advance Padraigr :dup:
Hi and welcome to our site, :wel: You may like Sidari, it has something for all the family good hotels and long sandy beaches, its cheap to eat out and has plenty of good eating places and bars, one hotel right on the beach is called (i think) the 3 brothers and has a good reputation, you can go horse riding, hire a boat for 30mins or longer, there are good cheap day trips ect, there is also Roda were we are staying this year, just round the corner from Sidari, its quieter and smaller but still has something for everyone in your family Horse riding, eating places, and bars, ect we are staying in the Afrodite hotel (Thompson) again right next to beach and has a good reputation, the rooms overlooking the beach do not get the sun but the rooms overlooking the pool gets the sun all day, we have been taking our granddaughter since the age of 5 she is now 15 and loves both places and has never been bored once hope this helps you , no matter where you go you will have a great time, have a great holiday we love Corfu, :dup:
Hi and welcome the the site, its nice to have you aboard, well it depends if you want a busy place or a small place, Kassiopi is smallish with lots of bars and taverans to eat in , i would recommend Solaris to stay in, http://www.solariskassiopi.com/?gclid=C ... tAod410cPQ , Its a really nice place to stay with two pools and is very central, you have San Stefanos NW and NE I prefer the smaller one - NE but the NW..http://www.sanstefanos.co.uk/ We stayed in Olga apartments and they are basic but freindly, and very clean we had a great time there, the beach is fantastic and there is lots to do without being overly touristy, Sidari is fine if you like a more commercialised resort, i dont , but on a forum such as this you do of course get personal opinions, we have been going to Corfu for many years along with Crete, Rhodes and Kefalonia which i love . we have been to Agios Gordios in Corfu as well, there are many places to stay there as and its a really nice place http://www.agios-gordios.net/ theis year were going back to Kefalonia Agia Efimia , my all time favourite in the world , also an Ionian Island and Corfus neighbour http://www.inagiaefimia.com/ ..... good luck in your choice, just do your homework and you shouldnt go far wrong :suun: :suun: :suun: :suun:

hihihi Padraigr, and a big :wel: to the Holiday Corfu Forum. We are more than happy to welcome anyone who is indeed an avid and established visitor to Corfu, as well as being a complete new visitor. I am sure this forum can help you in finding the right resort for you and your family on Corfu.
Having been to Zakynthos myself, I can say there are many similarities to Corfu, but at the same time there are some variations in culture and of course history. Do browse through the resort pages, and find a resort that suits you. All resorts are recommended, but with a young family, I would say Sidari in the North, and Gouvia in the East would be a good choice, but the choice of any resort is of course yours. If you have any further questions, do give us a shout.
hihihi Chrissy, and a big :wel: to the Holiday Corfu Forum. We are more than happy to welcome anyone who is indeed an avid and established visitor to Corfu, as well as being a complete new visitor. I am sure this forum can benefit from your knowledge and experience of Agios Stefanos, whether it is North East or South West, and of course we look forward to your inputs. We have an established gallery, and again would appreciate any pictorial inputs you may wish to add to the said gallery.
Thank you all for the information provided it has given me plenty to think about. I have been surprised by the amount of replies received & I know I should not be because having been a member of the Just Zante site for the last year the people on that site have also been so helpful & friendly when I was planning a visit to that island. I am really looking forward to my visit to Corfu hopefully around the end of June!!! sun sun sun :good2: :good2:
I had my first trip to Corfu last year - and what a wonderful suprise - one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, stunning. We stayed in San Stefanos (NW) We stayed at the Rose Gardens apartments. We had room 6 and it was great, basic, but that's what I love about Greece in general. The owners were friendly, although we didn't spend much time round the pool due to the hoards of kids. I would very happily recommend the Rose Gardens, other benfits (for us) were that it was in a quiet location, probably an easy 15 minute walk to resort centre, maybe another 5 mins to the beach (which was wonderful, large, clean, restaurants right there etc, all good). The resort of San Stefanos (NW) was just right for us, enough bars and restaurants to have a good choice, although we obviously had our favourites, but it wasn't too busy or with too many English Pubs etc. Personally we didn't like Sidari, but can understand why people would as it has a lovely beech and loads of bars and restaurants - just a bit hectic for us (we're only in our 40's but love the quiet life on hols) We're going back to Corfu again this year, this time to Paleokastritsa
hihihi Somerset, and a big :wel: to the Holiday Corfu Forum. We are more than welcome to join our wonderful forum. I am sure this forum can benefit from your previous visit to Agios Stefanos NW and the Rose Gardens. So when you have time please feel free to do a write up on your visit in the Agios Stefanos NW Section. We have an established gallery, and again would appreciate any pictorial inputs you may wish to add to the said gallery.
Lots information is available in our Paleokastritsa Section, and we will be more than happy to offer further information, or indeed help you with finding the same from other sources.
