Moraitika

Moraitika
(Travel Time from Airport 40 mins)

Moraitika is located on the south-east coast of Corfu, just 13 miles south of the Corfu Town and the airport.
The beach is sandy with a little shingle; you can hire sun beds and umbrellas daily, Moraitika also has a good selection of water sports including parascending,
pedalos etc, if you’re a little more adventurous then you could try your hand at scuba diving.
Along the river that separates Moraitika from Messonghi you will be able to book boat trips all over the Island also local fishermen still work from here.
If you are planning to stay or just visit Moraitika, you must not forget to visit “Ano Moraitika” this is the original village of Moraitika, it is located on the hill above the more
tourist side of Moraitika which has built up over the years.
Ano Moraitika with tiny brightly painted houses and winding alley ways adorned with flowers is virtually unspoilt as if it’s stuck in a time warp.
As you wander through Ano Moraitika’s back streets heading up hill you will pass the little church “Theotokou Kimiseos”, continuing up the hill you come across
“The Village Taverna” covered if flowers and run by “Kalogirou Nikolaos Family” who have had the taverna there since 1981, it’s well worth a visit, you will get great views of the
coast from here, so be sure to take your camera.
On Moraitika’s main strip you will find a very good selection of fast food outlets, café coffee bars, bars, tavernas, super & mini-markets and a vast range of gift shops
to suit every taste, and a few pharmacy’s, also scooter, bike, and car hire outlets.
Moraitika has grown over the years and is now starting to merge with the slightly quieter resort of Messonghi which is on the other side of the river between
Messonghi & Moraitika, which also forms the border between the two.
Moraitika appeals to a cosmopolitan mix of families, younger couples.

I will be updating each resort with a few pictures when I can sort them out, If
you have a picture or your favourite resort then please email it to me
and I will display it here.
