Remembrance Sunday

Post by Al » Tue Nov 08, 2011 11:58 am

Hi All
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
In Flanders fields the poppies grow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

God Bless All who gave their lives for us !!

As I do every year I shall be at the local parade and service to remember those friends in service who have fallen in the protection of our nation.

Unique date this year. At 11.00 am on 11/11/11 the nation will remember them.

Wonderful words to put to music. I have read the poem so many times but it is the first time I have heard it to music. Thank you.

DaveD, my Beret brushed, badge polished, medals polished, and ready to go on Sunday. Was at the local cenotaph this morning.
