Jet2 - Newcastle to Corfu

Post by Chris » Tue Jul 21, 2009 12:26 pm

Jet2 commenced flying to Corfu as of the 30th June, and will continue to do so until Mon 14 Sep 2009. I entered the following information. To fly out on the 31st August, returning on the 14th September. Cost of flight £69.99pp outbound, and £139.99pp inbound. Flight times, 1515 depart, 2030 arrival in Corfu. Return flight, 2130 depart, 2305 arrival in Newcastle. Total price £562.92, which includes baggage, check in fee, fuel and airport taxes. Is that good for flight only, I am not sure. I dont think Roger, I will ever understand the differences in airline and airport charges. Why there cannot be some sort of uniformity in the UK to same destinations is beyond me. I appreciate some differences in fuel useage, but not when one sees £100 or more between different companies and areas.

The breakdown of the above price I quoted for two passengers is as follows:

Basic Fares = £419.96
Taxes = £70
Fuel Supp = £8.00
Baggage = £43.96
Check in = £12.00

Total = £555.92 (Today)

Check in is online. If we were to do it at the airport, it is another £12.00.

How do they warrant all these charges. No wonder air travel so far this year is down by 24% to European destinations.

Chris

I agree. They are making Air Travel cheaper, they say, and then making additional charges for things like Meals, Baggage, Check-In, Toilets that were never there in the good old days so when you see flights advertised for £130.00 you then have to add in all these extras so that you can get into the air. Surely it is time the government made it law so that you only pay the advertised price.

I don't know how they only charge £220.00 to fly to the States which is over 4,000 miles but have to charge £260 plus to Corfu which is only 1,500 mileas away.
