Posting up Youtube Videos

Post by Chris » Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:14 pm

More and more people are uploading videos and DVDs to Youtube, and at the same time more and more are wishing to upload a video from Youtube to the forum. You will have seen a number used on this forum to enhance a post whether it be for a Birthday, or to show a Music gig, or to show a film of a particular part of Corfu. The good thing about Youtube, it is there for the taking really, and invariably if a certain video is not for use, it will be registered as such, and you will be shown a box telling you so. However, if you wish to upload a Youtube video, then follow the simple instructions.

Once you have found the Youtube animation, or video of your choice, you will find to the right of the video showing, you will find a URL line, and an Embed line. You can left click your mouse on either one, and it will be highlighted. You then right click your mouse, click on "Copy", and then come back to your Post Box on the forum. Right click in the Post Box, and then click on "Paste". Depending on whether you use the URL line (1) or the Embed line (2) you show one of the following; (1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=
A3HbHpZ6nnM, or (2) <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/A3HbHpZ6nnM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/A3HbHpZ6nnM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Yes, a load of verbal rubbish, and not all needed. You only need the portion I have highlighted in each example. Once you have done this, you can delete the rest. Now you add the word "youtube" at the beginning, and "/youtube" at the end, both words surrounded by []. This should on subitting or previewing the post show you the video in its true viewing format, as such:

A3HbHpZ6nnM

Any problems in doing this, give me a shout via PM and we will sort it between us.

Yeiamas, Chris
