One of the wort offending "Nasties" you can get is Spy/Malware this just clogs up your machine and makes it run so slowly you wouldn't believe it. Also, you don't what it's doing it tracks your Keytracks to see what sites you visit and other things,

You can protect yourself against this by installing "Ad-Aware" or "Spybot - Search and Destroy" it is then a good idea to follow this up by installing "RegScrubXP" this will get rid of all the spurious entries in your Registry.

Cheers for that Roger. I have the first two loaded up, and both have been working well behind the scenes so to speak. Being Vista cannot have the last one, but I believe something is already built into Vista for this.

Don't rely on them working behind the scenes they don't work in the same way as Anti Virus Software. You need to run them manually and carry out a Scan of your HDD. You should be able to get RegCleaner for Vista
