Hello everyone - Where we stay in Agios Stefanos NW

Post by Karen54 » Mon Jun 06, 2011 2:17 pm

Hi Susie!

We stay in Stamatis Apartments which are on main road opposite large supermarket. Tom looks after us very well whilst we are there and can't do enough for us! We love AS because it is so peaceful, which suits us. We love the beach during the day and the tavernas at night. We almost always eat in the Nafsika as it is very rustic and Spiros and his staff are very welcoming each year we return. We obviously have got to know a lot of the locals in the last few years and they are always genuinely happy to see regulars return, as it is a good ad for their businesses. They, like many others, are struggling in the present financial climate but they always keep their spirits up! I'm sure we will try other areas of the island at some stage, but at the moment Agios Stefanos serves our needs and desires! Karen :suun:

We have just returned from our 8th visit to Agios Stefanos and have had a fantastic time as ever! We were welcomed with open arms as usual and it was just like going home. The prices were much the same as last year. The temperature became extremely high in our last few days, with high humidity, so air con was a must in our apartment. For 3 days, we did not venture onto the beach because of the heat, so everyone please be careful if you are going to Corfu. The locals tell us that this is likely to last throughout August too! The beach was beautiful and the sea was calm and like a tepid bath. We stayed in the Stamatis apartments, which we recommend as they are near all facilities and a stones throw from the beach. The mossies are a real nuisance this year so be prepared with plenty of repellents and also plug ins for your rooms. Happy holidays everyone! :sunb:

Hi karen glad you had a good time! Strange we find a taverna and tend to stick with it 75% of the time. Week ends we try something different then back to our favourite. We do not go to the same location twice though as there is so many islands to explore. We like the out of the way difficult to get to places which have given us the best holidays so far, Telendos has NO cars only chickens (see link). Once we stayed at an apartments which were full of Germans. They tended to all eat together at the apartments (not at tavernas) and all go off together too. They also sang together but they were all in bed by 10.0pm!. Sometimes we have a whole beach to ourselves all day which is glorious if you want an all over tan! :dup:

Hi Karen. Fantastic to read you had a great time on your visit to Corfu, and Agios Stefanos. I have been reading and hearing from friends who live in Peraloudes near Sidari how hot it has been of late, and is set to continue as you said. People be aware. The mosquito investation is down to, apparently, that the island governments have not sprayed the lands this year, therefore allowing the dreaded mosquito to be more prevalent that usual. How true that is I am not sure.

Anyway, it would be great if you can at your convenience post a review of your holiday on the forum, and upload some holiday snaps for the gallery. It is good to keep an updated form of information for future reference. I do hope you can do this for us. Thank you.
