Re: Achillion Palace
A grand place to visit. Steeped in history with fantasitic sculptures and well maintained gardens. Also the added attraction of being the Casino in the James Bond film, For Your Eyes Only.

Re: Achillion Palace
Hi All
Also I was told (by a Greek) there is a oil painting of a Hector and Achilles, in the Achillion Palace (see below), and that the artist committed suicide after he completed these paintings.
He did this because he made a silly mistake, if you look at the picture closely you will see that the picture is so full of movement and energy, but the wheels on the chariot are motion less ?
How true this is I don't know..... :???:
One located at the top of the main staircase, and the other is in the corner of the Colonnade, and if you look through the glass door in the corner you will see it.. have a look next time your in Corfu

Re: Achillion Palace
I visit Corfu twice every year and always go to the Achillion palace. I never get bored of seeing it. When I went this year they had opened the door from outside to the top of the stairs which was nice to see and there was a collection of artwork in one of the upstairs rooms also.
